Clinical Negligence

Twenty years experience working as a Consultant and Clinical Director in some of Europe’s busiest A&E departments enables me to assist both claimant and defendant representatives in clinical negligence matters (50 / 50 split between Claimant and Defendant work), as well as act as an Expert Witness for Coroners.

Once I have been given the initial information surrounding the events giving rise to the claim, I am usually able to advise the solicitor running the file of the merits of the case (pro bono 15 minute conversation). I am then in a position to start working on the case if the notes are available and paginated. My turn around time is on average 6 to 8 weeks. If review of the clinical records reveals information which alters my assessment of the merits of the case, I notify the solicitor immediately.

I am able to offer:

  • reports dealing with clinical negligence in relation to all A&E matters and pre-hospital care
  • A&E nursing reports from our associate Sue Shipston RGN BA
  • pagination of medical records prepared by qualified A&E staff
  • summary and chronology of records, including interpretation, if requested
  • giving evidence in cases which go to court
  • letter to support ATE applications

I have been instructed by solicitors including:

  • Baker & Co
  • Bakers
  • Browne Jacobson
  • Camps
  • Clyde & Co
  • Dutton Gregory
  • Express
  • Levenes
  • Pattinson Brewer
  • Savas and Savage
  • Thompsons
  • Weightmans

My Court experience includes:

  • Expert Witness for the Defendant in the High Court
  • Expert Witness for the Family in the Coroner’s Court
  • Expert Witness for the Coroner, including a case which received national coverage
